Joe Nuxhall passed away last night. It's a sad day. It kinda feels like you have lost a member of your family. I can remember as a kid listening to Reds games as I went to bed on a little radio. He was just a great person who would talk to anyone, anywhere.

At a memorial made at his stature at Crosley Terrace there is a baseball with the following phrase: "Rounding Third and Heading for Heaven." It couldn't be more appropriate.......

Trying to figure out how my Yahoo id was hacked. It stinks. Can't check my email or fantasy teams. Dealing with Yahoo right now on trying to resolve. this issue. My EBay was also hacked, but that's been taken care of too.

Been a long time since I've done this. In between posts I've had even more problems with my laptop. This time the motherboard and memory went bad and had to be replaced (gotta love that 4 yr. warranty that came with it), the Reds season mercifilly ended and hired Dusty Baker as manager. I could write alot about this, but I'll just wait and see how next season is.

I've just been subbing, helping at home and with LifeLine Ministries, so nothing exciting going on with me. Bill and Andrea's Halloween Party is Saturday and I have no idea what I'm wearing. Last year I dusted off the old referee shirt from basketball and went as a ref. I'll probably just put together something with what I have already.

Ok, so here's a question for everyone.....Name your top ten tv shows that you watch. The only rule is that you have to consistently watch it. They don't have to be in order unless you want them that way. Here's mine:

Well, Barry Bonds is now the All-Time MLB HR Leader with 756 HR's. Yeah, we know he took steroids (even though he hasn't admitted it), but still he did break the record. Congrats, Barry on passing Hank Aaron. But don't get comfy in that spot because in about 5 years A-Rod's gonna break your record......

Well, the computer seems to be doing fine, so I hope I've fixed that problem. As you all know, I'm a Reds fan (duh!!!) and that I don't like the Yankees, but I saw this article on one of the radio guys blog on 1530homer.com and had to link it. It's a really good article. Dang, been over two months since I've posted anything. Just been doing some things around the house, going to Reds games (but you all should already know that). On May 12 I believe, LifeLine Ministries which I am a part of (http://www.lifelineofnky.org/ . Shameless plug I know), we had the King of Kings Skate Group out of Calif. come and put on a demo and speak to the kids. Long story short, I took pictures and ran the sound (which I was going to use my computer and plug it into the sound board), that morning something happened (eventually found out my hard drive went bad) to my computer. Got through that day fine. I'll spare you the details of everything that I lost, but had luckily backed up my files last May, so I only lost a year's worth of stuff but it was a LOT of stuff.

I got the new hard drive from Dell (thank God for getting the 3-year in home warranty with 4th year free, since I'm in that 4th year). Started to reinstall the drivers and software. The next morning I got up to continue the process, and it boots up fine and all but after about 5 min. it begins to be very, very sluggish. I get online with Dell and they tell me to reinstall Windows AGAIN (which would wipe out about 6 hrs. of work from the previous night)!!! I did what they said and it happened again, sluggish. With some of the things that have been going on, I haven't had time to work on it for a few weeks, until today. I figured why not reinstall it again and see what happens before I get online with Dell again (I believe most of their Tech Support people are either from overseas or are overseas, because they are hard to understand at times). So, since about 4 or 5 (don't remember) I've been working on it. Things seem fine so far, but it's when I turn it off for the night, and then back on the next day when my problems arise. I really hope things are fine tomorrow with it otherwise I might dropkick it out of the window (j/k).

Initially when I heard that Chris Benoit and his family were found dead I was going to post something but now the way things are, I'm not. Things are getting wierd, and I know that everyone just wants to know the truth as to how all of this happened (I could probably post a ginormous entry on this but won't). Well, I was waiting for some updates from Microsoft to finish install, plus listening to Air One online, and now I have to reboot the computer, so I will after I post this. Later.....

Another school shooting. This time, 33 dead, about another 2 dozen wounded at Virginia Tech. A college. Not only is it the worst school sooting in the history of our nation, it is the worst mass shooting in our history. I'm just shocked that this happened. I guess you can say as a teacher, I'm kinda glued to the tv watching coverage of the shooting. Watching Fox News this morning, they interviewed a student who was in one of the rooms that the shooter entered. He was shot in the arm, and barricaded the door when he left so he couldn't come back in. It was just a good interview. Also there was a teacher who was a Holocaust survivor who barricaded the door to his classroom so his students could escape out the windows, before he was killed.

Looking back at this, you can't help but think back to Columbine, Pudach, and the other school shootings that have taken place, plus 9/11. Just look at the changes in security at schools now, cameras, lockdown procedures, and school resource officers. It's much easier to lockdown a high school because of it's size, but even if universities have lockdown procedures, exactly how do you lockdown a university? That's the question. Most of the buildings on campuses are 'open access' meaning they're open all day and locked at some point during the night. Do you put metal detectors at each entrance to a building with security people, or would that just be an inconvience to faculty, students, and visitors?

One more baseball tidbit.....Saturday's game was my 91st in a row dating back to the last 5 games of the '05 season (yes, you read that right), which breaks my old record of 90 games in a row that encompassed the final season at Riverfront Stadium/Cinergy Field. Right now, I honestly don't see and end to this streak in the near future (unless something comes up of course), so we'll see how far it goes. Also, yesterday's game was my 500th regular season game, not counting the 2 exhibition games against the Indians before the 2003 season (yes, you read that right also). We've had tickets since the 2000 season. They lost 6-3. Oh well. With the exception of Opening Day, the rest of the games were the coldest that I can remember, but alas, I bundled up and roughed it out.

Well, I need to flip back over to Subfinder to see if there's any jobs for today, so I'm outta here....

What a week. 80 degree weather Sunday through Tuesday and then it's about 40 degrees and windy the rest of the week. WrestleMania was good on Sunday. Highlight was Mr. Kennedy winning the title and Vince getting his head shaved. Monday brought back baseball with Opening Day. Couldn't have asked for more perfect weather (rare on Opening Day). Dunn's 2 homers and Harang's brilliant pitching led the Reds to a 5-1 win. Lost on Wednesday, but we had our chances, and came back to win yesterday afternoon 5-2. It has been absolutely freezing at the ballpark, so I watched a few innings of the game and then I checked out the Pete Rose exhibit at the Reds Hall of Fame. I have to say it is a pretty good exhibit. They have his bat he used to hit #4192 and the ball on loan from the Baseball Hall of Fame. Go check it out sometime when you go to a game (only $5 on gamedays, or look at the pictures I took if you're too lazy to see it yourself).

And in breaking news now, Kentucky has hired Billy Gillispie as their new head coach. He was the coach at Texas A & M. I think he's a good fit for UK. I had the feeling that Billy D. would stay at Florida (who also lost his 4 juniors to the NBA, which accounted for 84% of their scoring this past season). He will be introduced at a press conference at 12:15 I believe.

FINAL EDIT: This may be the first time since UK won in '98 that I actually picked the eventual champion. Went 45-18 overall, probably the best I've done in a long, long time (usually lucky to have one final four team right).

I'll put it this way, my bracket's not on life support like it usually is every year by this time. I still have 3 of my Final 4 teams (ULCA's officially in as of right now, and looking for Florida and Georgetown to win today).

First off let me say that Xavier should have won the game against Ohio State, all they had to do was hit that free throw. So they didn't, but why not foul them before they can shoot a 3? That way they only shoot 2 free throws and still be down by 1. Also, UK got beat by a team with a ton of talent, Kansas. Tubby will be back next year, but I feel that there will be changes on his coaching staff.

I have 11 of the Sweet 16 teams, and only lost 2 of my Elite 8 teams so far. Belireve me, that's not bad for me. I think I usually have at least one of my Final Four teams out by now. Bracket's been updated like last time.

My allergies are messing with me right now. It started on Sunday with my nose running and an eye waters up. Usually happens to me about spring time and usually once in the fall. I'd rather have it now then start the day of WrestleMania and carry through Opening Day for the Reds, which are less than 2 weeks away now....I can't wait!!!!

EDIT: Here's what my bracket looks now after the 1st Round (Incorrect games marked with an X). Overall, I'm 24-8. Not bad, but it could have been better because I thought too much about Butler, Oral Roberts, and Creighton games and changed my picks. This happens every year. As I'm typing this, XU is beating OSU by 1 with about 1 1/2 minutes left. Don't get me wrong, I would like XU to win, but I have OSU in the Elite 8. And Duke goes out in the first round, that feels soooooo good.
